I Miss You

I miss you so much it hurts
I wish you were here by my side
I need your guidance and support
I need to hear your advice, direction and your thoughts
I need your love and reassurance that only your embrace can bring
I need to see you laugh and smile and play nervously with your ring
I need to feel you stroking my hair like you used to when I was a little girl
You were my best friend, my rock, my world
And now, although you’re gone, taken from me
You’ll never be forgotten
You’ll live on everyday in all the things you’ve taught me.

Never Forgotten

Never Forgotten

I thought of you yesterday
And I cried

I thought of you today
And I smiled

I'll think of you tomorrow
And each day after that

Baseball Bakes

It's nearly the end of the baseball season and this is my penultimate bake for the boys! This week its an away game so I have sent my darling man off with a batch of Nutella muffins with a crunchy hazelnut topping!

I have decided I need to make something extra special to take to the next baseball game as it will determine the winning team of the season, so watch this space! Good luck Bristol Badgers!

My Teddy Bear

I previously posted this in colour but I think B&W works really well!

Self Portrait Continued....

I had a few hours to myself yesterday, so I decided to have a go at taking some more self-portraits. I wanted to include my beloved Ray Bans as they never fail to look cool, and I thought it would be cheeky and fun to muck around with some bubble gum. (For those of you who are wondering it was Strawberry flavoured Hubba Bubba)

I chose to wear a black cardi so it was match the black of the sunglasses and everything else would be tones of grey.

I desaturated and enhanced the contrast on his photo. (As it was just me, I had the camera on the self timer setting which meant this particular photo took several attempts to get right due to the bubble bursting before the shutter went down).

Me & my Teddy!

Oreo Muffins

Its Sunday again...time for baking for the baseball team! This week I have made the boys Chocolate Oreo Muffins! I found some pretty red polka-dot case to use too!

Lula Quotes

I've been getting stuck into my beloved Lula magazine and, as well as all the beautiful, surreal photography and gorgeous fashion, there are several quotes inside that I thought were worth sharing...

"I thought my night gowns were far prettier than any of my other dress and I insisted to wear them to the supermarket." Gabrielle Greiss

"Everybody should be not childish but they should be childlike." Iris Apfel

"I like to transform via my clothes. It is both a shield and a form of expression." Liz Goldwyn

Self Portrait - Part One

It suddenly dawned on me that I am never short of my own company, so I decided to use myself a subject and embark on a self portrait adventure! It is very much a 'work in progress' but I want to carry on and build on it, whilst exploring my camera and photographic techniques in the process.

Here's my part one....

'Me & Kate'

I know this one is slightly nuts, but I really like the way its turned out; slightly blurry and almost angle like with the bright white above the head like a halo.

Got lots of other self portrait ideas which I want to try out, sadly my day job is keeping me from experimenting.

Watch this space.......

Baseball Bakes

My partner plays Baseball every weekend and recently, along with his packed lunch, I have starting sending him off with a tin of baked goods for him and the team to enjoy.

Today its (very gooey) Millionaires Shortbread.

I made a fancy marble topping by adding some white chocolate to the dark chocolate before it set and then I used a cocktail stick to created the swirly pattern.

Here's a couple of my previous baseball bakes:

Baseball muffins. The BB is for Bristol Badgers, the name of the team. I made these for the first game of the season.

Oat, Raisin & Chocolate Cookies

Double Chocolate Muffins

I think it would be rude to finish this post without a link to the Bristol Badgers website, so here we go...

Lula

After years of searching I had almost given up trying to get hold of Lula magazine, which I had originally discovered, and fallen in love with, whilst at Uni. However, yesterday I was walking to work, my normal route, and I spotted it in the window of an art gallery. I waited until my lunch break and went straight back to the gallery, which was now open, and was so delighted when I saw it sitting there on the shelf.  I discussed my long and unsuccessful search for the magazine with the gallery owner and she informed me that she had experienced equal difficulty trying to stock it . She didn’t even know when, or if, she would get delivery of the next issue! But anyway, here it is in the flesh; I will treasure it and read it from cover to cover as I may not find it again for another 3 years!

Poem No. 2

OK, so here's my second poem. I wrote it quite quickly after this first one (Take Your Offer Off The Table). I didn't think too much about rhyming, I just wanted to put down my feelings in a way that flowed and was a complete story.

Once I  the poem back after completing it; it occurred to me that it could possibly be interpreted both literally and metaphorically. I'll let you take make your own mind up...!

Pilot In the Sky

Come and rescue me
Take me away
Fly me high above the clouds
Where the sun always shines

Spin me around
Turn me upside down
Pump adrenaline through my veins
And make my heart beat fast

Take me higher and higher
Further into the blue
Until my vision is blurred
And I can feel no hurt

I am under your power
But I have never felt so free
Don't take me back to the world below
Where I'll be returned to reality

Let this smile on my face last forever
For this day dream I will always treasure.

My First Poem!

OK, go easy with me, this is my first poem! I’m a a little bit nervous about sharing it as poetry is definitely out of my comfort zone but I love the process of put my thoughts down in writing, and like art, poetry can be abstract; only the writer (or artist ) has control over the out come and knows the real truth behind it.
Here goes…
Take Your Offer Off The Table
Take your offer off the table
And out of my head.
I want to
But I cant accept.

Stop keeping me awake,
And clouding my mind.
Stop making me want to see you
And get drawn in by those hazelnut eyes.

You are a forbidden fruit,
An apple I must not pick.
If I do it will end in tears
And reality will become my most worst of all fears.
